School Safety Summit Covers Topics from Marijuana to Threat Assessment

The Colorado Association of D.A.R.E. Officers (CADO) and the Colorado School Safety Resource Center of the Department of Public Safety hosted a conference July 6-8 in Steamboat Springs to provide training and workshops on a range of school safety issues, from prevention and threat assessment to adolescent marijuana usage and sexting.

Speakers included experts from law enforcement, school districts, the Colorado School Safety Resource Center, Colorado Attorney General’s Office, and more. Workshops and trainings addressed topics including:
  • Marijuana 101 and the effects of Marijuana on the Adolescent Brain
  • School Safety and Security Assessments
  • Threat Assessment
  • Navigating the Minefield of Adult Sexual Misconduct
  • The Canon City Sexting Incident
  • Overview and issues related to SB213 (the “Claire Davis Act”)
  • Youth Behavioral Health
